Stuart Scott Hendrie (born 1 November 1989) is an English professional footballer who plays for Daventry Town (on loan from Hinckley United) as a striker.
Hendrie was born on 1 November 1989 in Solihull,[1] and is the son of Scottish former professional footballer Paul Hendrie, who moved to England in March 1972 to join Birmingham City. He is the younger brother of another professisonal footballer, Lee Hendrie (who represented England at senior level),[2] and cousin to another Scottish professional footballer, John Hendrie.
After playing with the youth team of Walsall,[3] Hendrie began his senior career in non-League football with Atherstone Town.
After beginning a two-week trial with Morecambe on 21 July 2010,[4] Hendrie signed a one-year contract with them on 4 August 2010,[5] on a free transfer.[6] He made his professional debut on 31 August 2010, in a Football League Trophy match against Macclesfield Town.[7] Hendrie made his Football League debut on 13 November 2010, in a 2–1 home defeat against Lincoln City, after coming on as an 87th minute substitute for Paul Mullin.[8]
In March 2011, Hendrie moved on an emergency one-month loan to Tamworth.[9]
On 11 April 2011, Hendrie returned to Morecambe.[10] but never played for the remainder of the 2010–11 season, and was released by the club on 17 May 2011 [11]
Hendrie signed for Conference North side Hinckley United in July 2011,[12] but was soon loaned out to Mark Kinsella's Daventry Town on a short-team loan deal. Here, he teamed up with his older brother Lee. He made his début in a 4–3 FA Trophy win over Kidsgrove Athletic, and scored in the game.[13][14]
